Symphony Splash Band of Heroes Campaign Kicks off with $37,000

Victoria, BC – On March 14, 2012 at an elegant reception at West End Gallery, the Victoria Symphony launched its 2012 Band of Heroes Campaign in support of Victoria Symphony Splash. With a goal of $60,000 for 2012, Executive Director Mitchell Krieger announced that the campaign had already raised $34,000. By the end of the event, three more heroes stepped up for a total of $37,000.

In 2010 the Band of Heroes recognition campaign was conceived as a unique alternative to traditional sponsorship in response to the title sponsor of the event ending their 5 year contract after only 3 years.  The Victoria Symphony reached out to local businesses and individuals to lend their support in producing Victoria Symphony Splash. Appropriately named The Victoria Symphony Splash Band of Heroes, the program asks for $1,000 contributions in exchange for specific recognition benefits including taking a bow onstage in front of an audience of 45,000 people on Splash day.

Now in its third year the Victoria Symphony Splash Band of Heroes has raised $140,000 towards the operational expenses of Victoria Symphony Splash and has become an important part of the sustainability of Victoria’s marquee event of the summer.

The 23^rd annual Victoria Symphony Splash takes place on August 5^th, 2012. From a floating stage in Victoria’s beautiful Inner Harbour, Maestra Tania Miller, the Victoria Symphony and special guests perform an unforgettable concert. The day begins at 1pm with Splash Family Zone activities and ends at 10pm with Victoria Symphony’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture accompanied by bells, cannons and fireworks.
